WLIT fm started playing holiday music early this month. I’m one of the few people that are actually deeply excited by this. There is something about listening to holiday music that makes the cold outdoors more bearable.
I love the holidays. All the family traditions, lights, gift giving, what a great time of year.
One of our many family traditions is to watch one holiday movie each weekend till Christmas. Watching family favorites is sure to get you in the Holiday Spirit.
Below is a list of our favorites. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
*Lampoons Christmas Vacation
*A Christmas Story
*Home Alone
*It’s a Wonderful Life
*The Family Stone
*Santa Clause 1 & 2
*One Magical Christmas
*Elf
*Bells of St. Mary’s
*How the Grinch Stole Christmas
*Scrooged
Some of our favorite Thanksgiving movies are:
*Dutch
*Planes, Trains, & Automobiles
*Indian Summer
*Uncle Buck
Wishing you a happy and safe Holiday Season!

Dancing with the Stars
One day I will learn ballroom dancing. I love the gracefulness of it, the exercise and the added bonus, not looking like an idiot on the dance floor. I really enjoy watching the dances on Dancing with the Stars, although I do not aspire to be that good.
But earlier this month, I got such a treat! I attended the wedding of a close friend of my nephew & his family. I knew she had taught dancing at Arthur Murray’s for a while, and had been dancing since she was little, but what I didn’t know is that that is that she comes from one dancin’ family! When they got out on the dance floor I felt like I was in the audience of DwtS. From the bride’s Mom and her husband, the oldest sister & her dancing partner, who incidentally compete regularly, to her brother, who had just the right flair. I’m sure I watched with my mouth hanging open.
One day I will learn ballroom dancing, but for now, TG for TiVo to record DwtS so I can watch whenever I want.

Start Off The Holiday Season Right
On November 20th we will host our 2nd annual fund raising event for Opportunity Enterprises. Opportunity Enterprises- if you didn’t know, is a non profit organization that trains and employs mentally and physically handicapped people from our community.
Many of those who work and train there exhibit their artistic skills at this event. These original pieces are sold at very reasonable prices, and the profits are used to grow programs at OE.
I’m really looking forward to this event. These artists beam with pride as dozens of people admire and purchase their unique works.
I am constantly amazed at the joy and happiness so many of these pieces express. Bright colors and happy subjects prevail, and that is a very inspiring thing to see.
I encourage you to come to our Chesterton gallery at 6pm on Thursday November 20th- you’ll be glad you did because there is absolutely no better way to start the holiday season.
