What does that sign mean?

In these tough economic times, we are fortunate enough to be able to hire a new person. Well, since Barbara, our Valpo designer, had a beautiful baby girl, she has decided to return to work on a part-time basis. So, we needed a new designer to fill the gap.

I have had the pleasure of training Kat, our new designer. I say 'pleasure' because I find when I train people it is a refresher course for me. I am reminded of facts that I had forgotten or refreshes my memory about a procedure we don't use very often, for example.

I relate it to driving a car. I've been driving for 40 years now, but about 3 years ago my time was up and I had to take a written driving test. The common questions, 'who has the right-of-way?' were easy, but 'what does that sign mean?', when I swear I've never seen that sign since I studied for my first driving test, I really had to think (or guess!).

Also, it reminds you how much you know. You don't think about it on a daily basis, but 'you've come a long way, baby!'. I remember how difficult I once thought a particular part of the job was; something I can now do with my eyes closed.

And the added bonus? I get to know the new member of the team very well!
