Barb's New Inspiration

It’s funny how your life changes. For me, I went from reading teen magazines, to bridal ‘catalogues’ (which weighed more than I did), then home interior magazines & now…well now, I tend to read baby stuff. All those stages seemed to transition smoothly from one into the other. How does that happen exactly? I guess we all kinda look for inspiration in each phase of our life, whether it is via magazine, through people or through our surroundings.

I’ve certainly found that being a first time mom is far more inspiring than I originally expected. There’s nothing like seeing joy from my baby’s eyes & watching her learn as each & every little thing around her is new. While I don’t find baby magazines as exciting and inspiring as some of my previous choices of reading material, I have been delighted in rereading some of my favorite children’s books to Anna-it has kinda made me feel like a kid again & makes me want to spend more time doing things I really enjoy.

I used to paint all the time-but it’s something I honestly haven’t made much time for over the past few years. After spending hours painting Anna’s nursery, I’ve found that it was well worth it now that I get to see how she stares at her walls in complete absorption. In fact, I get a kick out of when any kids come over to visit, somehow the little ones always manage to migrate up into the nursery because it’s “more fun up there”.

Through all this, I’ve been inspired to try something new….painting children’s art. So, stay tuned-hopefully I’ll have some of my original art to post in the near future.

I certainly am learning that life is too short to not make time for things we love to do! Before long Anna will be transitioning through the same reading material in my opening paragraph. Since there is no time like the present, what is something you enjoy doing that you haven’t made time for lately?

Here’s to tackling fun projects that make us who we are!
