Last Saturday, my fiancee and I went to a wedding show that I won tickets to. It is our first step on the road to planning our wedding! The show we went to was for independent vendors of handmade wedding wares, and it was called Indie Wed. Having never been to any sort of big wedding thing before, I really didn't know what to expect. Turns out, that it was a lot of fun. We met many many nice vendors who have small start-up businesses in the wedding industry. Since there was so much there, I thought that I would share some of the companies that stood out the most to us!
First off would be the Magnolia Photo Booth Company, which was the first booth we stopped at. The company is made up of seven people who built it literally from the ground up. They design, build and program their own booths, complete with gorgeous graphic design and a trunk full of props if you need them. It was so fun to hop in the booth and see what we came up with!
The next business that really stood out was a woman who does stationary by hand off of an antique (1923) letterpress printer. You can check out a video of her design and printing process at her website, StarShaped.com. It was really amazing to see all of the different things that can be done with technology from the twenties! One last company we saw that I would like to mention is Katherine Anne Confections. We met Katherine, and she talked to us about her original and unique flavored truffles. She does beautiful work, and even teaches classes and throws truffle-making parties! So fun! To find out more about her products and services, you can check her out at Katherine-Anne.com.
Indie Wed was a really amazing experience. It is incredible to see what groups of independent, creative people can do when they put their minds to it! If you are on the path to marriage, and would like to check out indie wed, their next Chicago-area event will be in July.
