You're The Tops!

Do you ever wonder what the most popular piece of art in a collection is? Art, as Barbara illustrated for us, is a varied thing. Since the value of art is solely in the eye of the beholder, I started wondering, are there pieces that are more sought out than others in public museums and galleries?

It turns out, not only are there more popular pieces, but Tyler Green, over at ArtNotes did a series on the most popular pieces at several of our nation's finest museums.

Here's a quick review of the top of the lists:And just because the best stuff isn't always on the top, here are a few pieces that I love that didn't make #1.

Georgia O'Keefe, Jimson Weed

Vincent Van Gogh, The Starry Night

Edward Hopper, Nighthawks

I have spent a lot of time working with and around art. Enough time that I have favorite artists, and styles which I seek out. One of the best ways to discover new and exciting art to love is to look at what other people are looking at. Go and see art at your local museum or gallery, go to an art event. As you look at more and more art, you will have a much better taste for what you like!
