A Standout Frame

Recently, I had the opportunity to design an interesting piece. It is a playful acrylic painting by a well-regarded Indiana artist, Mike Altman. It's not very big, but it has a lot of character, and it's on cardboard.

The home it was destined for is all done in sleek lines, black, silver and gray. Very modern, and nothing at all like the artwork it's self! A lot of people are afraid to purchase art that they like because it does not fit in with their design aesthetic - it doesn't match their house. One of the best things about custom framing is it's ability to balance between the art and the room around it.

The painting was so detailed, that I put it on a simple background of black velvet, and the blue and white are picked up in the soft steel color of the frame. A simple, minimal frame, that gives the art room to breath, and balances it with what is around it. Perfection!
