Ken teaches classes, so my main priority is to help him with that, but in-between classes, I check out the various booths. Among my favorites were PI Creative Arts; they print art on not only paper & canvas, but metal, acrylic & wood. There are certain looks in art that reproduce with amazing results on metal or acrylic.
Larson-Juhl always has a beautiful booth – lots of ideas. I took numerous pics to bring back to the gallery. They even framed an iPad and had it stationed on their Facebook page, so that you could just go up to it and click ‘like’ – forward thinking.
But, I saved the best for last – Penny Lane Publishing has licensed David Bromstad’s art. For those of you who don’t know the name, he is HGTV’s 1st Design Star winner (a show I’ve watched from the beginning – I think it’s in the 7th season now). The winner receives a show of their own; his is ‘Color Splash’ – by far he has been the most successful winner. His niche is that he creates a piece of original art for each room he designs on air, and he makes it look sooo easy. I got to meet him (he’s taller & thinner than on TV, but that beautiful smile is the same!) I asked him how much art I needed to buy for him to make a ‘gallery call’, he just smiled. But he did sign my catalog and I got a hug. It goes without saying that you’ll see his art in the gallery soon!
Here is just a sampling
